Connecticut Trip - Part 4

We woke up rather early for next morning so that we can check out some other spots in Connecticut before heading home. So we jumped back in the car and headed to a place called Indian Leap.

This was a small location tucked away in Norwich where really no one probably knows about. Honestly, if I hadn't asked about any cool sites at a local gas station, we would never had found this location. When we got there, we happen to meet a friendly fellow named Flat Stanley. He was visiting from Louisiana. While chatting with Flat Stanley, he told us he had heard about the legend of Indian Leap. He was told that Indian Leap, was a favorite encampment of the Mohegan Indians. In 1643 Uncas, Sachem of the Mohegans, led his warriors in the famous battle against their rival tribe the Narragansetts. During the battle, the Narragansetts were pursued by the Mohegans. Legend has it that a band of Narragansetts, unfamiliar with the territory, unknowingly reached the high treacherous escarpment of the Falls. The Narragansetts, rather than surrender, attempted to leap the chasm. Unsuccessful, they plunged to their deaths into the abyss below. This was an interesting legend. It is a bit sad that more people don't know about this location. After hanging out at the Leap, Hunter had informed me that we should be heading off. He seemed to be in a bit of a hurry to get home, I would suppose.
So I told Hunter that I wanted to stop at one more place before we headed home. He said that he wanted to get home at an early hour so that he could do some things before bed. I hadn't a problem with that. So off to Mohegan Sun we went. This ended up being a much shorter stop there than I thought. Come to find out, they wouldn't let any of us in because of Yorrick. I tried to explain that he is a good cat and he has never done anything wrong. Then the gentleman mentioned something about people being allergic to cats, so they didn't want that issue inside the building. Disappointed, we turned around and walked back to the car. We hopped in and started driving toward the exit, when Hunter noticed something on the side of the road. There was a statue of a bear staring a little Indian boy in the face. We stopped to get pictures of this statue. While we did this, we happen to notice that Yorrick decided to be a pain in the butt. He climbed up onto the bear and made his way to the bears nose. Now the bear and Yorrick were staring the little boy in the face. It was so cute, but Yorrick really should get down before we got into any trouble. The last thing I wanted was to not be allowed inside the building and then not allowed on the property. Problem was, Yorrick wasn't coming down. He sat on that bears nose and didn't move. Hunter and I tried everything to get him down. Finally, after 10 minutes, he finally came down and climbed into the car. Hunter seemed a bit disgusted with the time it took to get him down.

So after that issue, we drove off home and Hunter walked to his house next door. He had said he had a wonderful time and was glad he came. I am not completely buying it, since he we really hadn't said much during the ride home. Oh well. I will visit him n a couple days to see how he is doing.
