Syracuse, New York

February 22nd, 2010

I can not believe that I wanted to do this. Don't get me wrong, I had a good time, and met someone really nice, but the drive out to Syracuse and back was so long and boring! But I won't let the weekend drive ruin the weekend that was.

So I had arrived in Syracuse around 11 in the morning, 6 hours after Yorrick and I woke up. I hadn't any idea what to do there. I know that the collage basketball team is pretty good there, but they were not playing during the time I was there. So as I walked the street trying to figure out what to do, I happened to notice a bunch of people walking into a building. They looked nice enough so I thought I would check it out. I poked my head into the door and their were about 30 more people inside having fun. I proceeded inside and walked up to a child. I asked this child what was going on and she replied, "This is a gathering!" She explained that people from all over the country and Canada have come to chat, play games and just have fun. So I did this for quite awhile, but felt that I should go and find my hotel now, before it got dark. I thanked those I talked to for the time and was on my way.As I walked from the building in the direction of where I thought my hotel was, I pasted a place of great interest. Now anyone that used to watch The Price is Right, might remember that the original hosts name was Bob Barker. It would seem that Bob Barker is famous for something else as well! Hot Dogs! Plastered on the sign above the restaurant was the sign, "Bob Barker's Famous Hot Dogs." I went inside with such excitement only to be very disappointed. Bob Barker wasn't there. He didn't even own the place! They lie so bad!So I ended up spending way to much time at that lying hot dog place arguing with the owner to realize that is was now dark outside. I really needed to find my hotel. I continued down the street, then down another street, then down another street and realized I was lost. I sat down next to tree and stared at a map trying to figure out where I went wrong. As I stared, I didn't even know what street I was on. Luckily, a couple was walking down the street. They were a little rude I thought. As they got closer to me, they pointed at me. Once they got close enough, I asked them for directions and they asked me if I did it! I was confused! They asked me again it I did it! I wondered why they were asking me this and what it was they were wondering I did. They pointed to the tree I happened to be sitting under, and to my amazement, someone had made a face on the tree with snowballs. I told them I didn't do it and they began to tell me the directions to the hotel. I thanked them and started off in the right direction.Hours late, I finally made it to the hotel. At the front desk, stood a women that was ready to check me in. I started chatting with her and she checked me into my room. Carrying my things up to my room and resting it on the bed, I told Yorrick, I would be back in a little bit. I headed back down the front desk to talk to the women again. I found out her name was Emily and that she lived in the area. She was rather cute and she had the most amazing personality. I really enjoyed talking to her. I wondered if she was doing anything the next day before I headed home, but I chickened out. She did mention she got off work at 11 and if I wanted to hang out for a little while. I thought that maybe I should head back to my room and check on Yorrick. I really liked her too! So I headed back to my room and talked to Yorrick about Emily. Shortly there after, I fell asleep.

The next morning, I packed our bags and was ready to head home. Emily wasn't at the front desk anymore. I would liked to have said goodbye, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. So we stopped at the store for a drink and we headed home. Not much of an exciting drive, but 6 hours later, we were home. As I think back, Syracuse wasn't totally a was of time. I met some really nice people, a lying hot dog restaurant owner, and a cute women at the front desk of our hotel. I can't see myself ever going back, but who knows. Someone or something would really have to happen to draw me back there. Thanks for the wonderful time Syracuse.
