Logbook Entry : 00029
December 24th, 2009
It was the night before Christmas and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, well except Yorick chasing a mouse.
Around through the kitchen he chased the poor thing,
Around through the kitchen he chased the poor thing,
til it jumped through a hole in the wall with a spring.
Our stockings were hung by the chimney with cheer,
in hopes that Christmas morning will soon be here.
A plate full of crackers and a giant glass full of juice,
the cookies and milk was something we could not produce.
Yorick is now nestled so snug in our bed,
while visions of catnip danced in his head.
Under 4 blankets and my head in my cap,
we're well on our way for that long winter's nap.
while visions of catnip danced in his head.
Under 4 blankets and my head in my cap,
we're well on our way for that long winter's nap.
When out on the street there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew with a flash,
just a large tree branch that made the loud crash.
It had fallen onto a sleigh that was parked in the street,
and there stood a man who could barely stay on his feet.
So I threw on my coat and I threw on my shoes,
I went to check on this man who I found smelt like booze.
We headed inside for some warmth and some green tea,
gazing through the window at all the we could see.
The moon on the breast of the fresh fallen snow,
I asked for the mans name and he replied, "You know!"
I glanced over at the man who was standing next to me,
and had to step out of the way of the fire so I could see.
The light from the fire now lights up this man's face,
I couldn't believe it, could it really be, that Santa's in my place?
I had so much to ask him but I didn't know what to say,
Oh wait! Ya I did! Tell me what happened to your sleigh?
He said he stopped at someones house down the street a bit,
"They must have spiked the nog they left that stupid little sh...."
Santa bent over, opened his mouth, and he threw up on the floor,
to the left and to the right, I watched that stuff soar.
The smell now was so much worse than it was before this event,
my eyes opened wide when I notice it was all over Yorick's Christmas present.
I ran for the mop and a bucket of water and started to clean up the mess,
all Santa did was stand there watch and said "Hamlet, I must confess.
"I am not drunk and my sleigh is just fine, and this is all but just a dream,
I knew you were a good person and you proved me correct, you are everything you seem."
"I had heard of your kindness and your good will towards a friend,
so I wanted to see for myself to make sure it's not pretend.
As you ventured out into the bitter cold to help a man in need,
the warmth I felt from your kindness was greater than a fire indeed."
"So I must leave now with much thanks heading your way,
a gift you won't soon forget, under your tree on Christmas Day."
And with that said he walked outside to his sleigh parked in the street,
where he would turn around and call in the air for his tiny reindeer fleet.
"Get down here before the sun comes up, there's still plenty more to do!"
you could hear bells draw closer and closer, bells from this reindeer crew.
One by one they landed in the street ready to take off once more,
Santa climbed into his sleigh and pulled his reigns and off they went with a roar.
I lifted my head and looked to the sky and watched as Santa flew away,
he yelled "Continue to be the person you are and have a merry Christmas Day."
I went inside, turned off the lights, and headed off back into bed,
where Yorick surely still had visions of catnip, dancing in his head.
There is now no way I will forget this night for as long as I breathe air,
the visit from good Ol' Santa Claus, a story I will love to share.
Goodnight Yorick, goodnight world, I'll see you the next day,
and hurry up Christmas morning, please oh please do not delay.
