Groundhog's Day

Logbook Entry : 00034
February 2nd, 2010

Sorry for not posting over the last few weeks. I have been a bit soar and have done little to nothing in the way of excitement. I have read some books and searched the Internet for places to go. Which reminds me! I haven't told anyone what my New Year's resolution. So on all days, I am announcing to the world, that Hamlet will be traveling this year. Now it is not to say that New Hampshire isn't a nice place. While searching the Internet over these last few weeks, I have found that there is so much more to see out there. But where do I go first?

Not knowing where to go first, I thought it would be a wonderful idea to see what kind of winter New Hampshire will have. I wasn't gonna let some groundhog in Pennsylvania dictate how much longer of a winter New Hampshire was gonna have. So Yorrick and I went outside, which it was 18 degrees, to find out whether or not we could find our shadow. Now, with it that cold outside, we could have just as easily found tree shadows and called it quits, but we wanted to find our own shadows. Standing in the middle of the road we stood. We didn't see our shadow. We waited a few minutes in hope of seeing them, but still nothing. As we stood in the street, freezing our fingers off, in the distance a car was coming. As we started to head to the side of the road, there they were. Our shadows. We finally saw our shadows. What does this mean? I was dead set on seeing our shadows, I forgot to look up what seeing my shadow means. But them again, does it really matter?

So we went inside to cower by the fire where I grabbed my laptop to do a bit more research. Apparently, if the groundhog, I mean, if I don't see my shadow, it means that winter will soon end. If I see my shadow, it means that there will be 6 more weeks of winter. Oh. Not that I don't like the snow, but I wanna start seeing the trees turn green with life. Oh well. But on a good note, doing a bit more research, I found that the groundhog is right 30% of the time. I guess Mother Nature it really in control. Let us all hope that it warms up quickly!
